Day 8 of cardinal hunt | After hiatus, a return to the field

After a break for the shuttle launch, the cardinal hunt got back into action Thursday, as I took a lengthy stroll under mostly cloudy skies. Storm clouds muted the lighting, which is sometimes a good thing. But not today.

Not that lighting matter anyway; I wasn't seeing any birds at all. It took some time, but I eventually found a male and a female fighting - or doing something else that is beyond the rating level of this blog.

The "fight" was so short-lived that I didn't have the chance to shoot the birds together. My images Thursday instead were relegated to separate shots that were taken from quite far away and were poorly lit.

But as all persistent hunters say, there's always next time.
