Gust front ushers in a rare thunderstorm

Click for high resolution. On Aug. 7, this gust front moved southward over my location on the Pineda Causeway just north of Melbourne. I created a panorama of the thunderstorm from 15 separate images. But somehow in the blending process, Photoshop misaligned the photos, so the horizon is not consistent. In dealing with so many high-resolution photos, this process is time-consuming, and I didn't feel like doing it all over again, so this is the best it gets.

The storm brought a little rain and a few claps of thunder.

But for the most part -- like most systems this summer -- this one was a dud.

  1. Wow! The panorama is amazing. I'm really enjoying your web site -- I live in Maine and found your site when searching for the Golden Road but then I subscribed to your feed and I'm hooked. Keep all the great photos coming!

  2. Thanks, Liz. I'm a big fan of Baxter (and Maine in general).
