When did The Offlede turn into a photo blog? Oh, yeah: last week, when I got a new Nikon D90.
Most of my experimentation with the camera thus far has been with my new Sigma 150-500mm lens. Tonight's sunset at Lake Washington was the first sub-150mm shot with the D90, though it's 82mm - not even close to being wide angle.
The D90 will be helpful with extreme wide-angle shots in the future, including more spectacular sunsets and long-exposure rocket launches from Cape Canaveral.
Speaking of rocket launches: Next week's liftoff of shuttle Atlantis will be the big test of my new telephoto lens. I'm camping out in Titusville for five hours before Monday's 2:01 p.m. launch. NASA is the reason I purchased this lens.

2. Will you spend five hours in Titusville post-launch? I have an appointment near home at 7.

1. No. NASA is suffering budget cuts. (Actually, I am, too, but it didn't stop me.)

3. Yeah. That was the main reason: because I'm lazy and don't want to write. It was convenient that the lens came at the same time.
